The power and beauty of this essential oil is prized for its protective and restorative properties. It helps to protect skin cells from damage. Frankincense has been shown to help to reduce blemishes, minimize pores and prevent wrinkles. It is especially useful for lifting and tightening the skin to slow signs of ageing.
A healing oil, frankincense can help to decrease the appearance of scars, pigmentation and marks caused by blemishes and eczema. It is also well regarded in boosting the immune system and balancing hormone levels.
Although there are many types of Frankincense trees, the most valued of all is the Boswella Sacra from the Dhofar region of Oman. Oman has always had a reputation for producing superior-quality frankincense trees that deliver the highest-grade resin. The fertile land and the warm climate provide ideal conditions to produce the finest resin in the world.
In her book Frankincense: Oman’s Gift to the World, Juliet Highet compares trees from a variety of regions but concludes that “no other trees produce the same pure, exalted fragrance” as those found in Dhofar.
